- Co-Chair, Membership Committee
- Programs Committee Member
As co-chair of the SMPS-NY Membership Committee, Greg Dimech is a valued member of our chapter and known to always greet you with a smile. He has thrived at his position as marketing manager at Faithful + Gould and we are happy to name him as October’s Member of the Month. Below are some insights and personal information that Greg has shared with us.
1. Where are you from originally?
I’m born and raised in Queens, New York and wouldn’t trade that for the anything in the world. I did spend a few memorable years in Pennsylvania as an adult, but nothing compares to New York City. I like being close enough to Manhattan for work but able to escape the hustle and bustle at night. Being raised in the city and going to school in the city definitely taught me to be a go-getter!
2. Can you tell me more about your role as the co-chair of the SMPS-NY Membership committee? As well as your involvement with the Programs committee?
My role as co-chair is fairly new. Our main objective is to increase the awareness of the NY Chapter. I’m currently reaching out to former professors of mine to introduce SMPS-NY to architectural and engineering programs within the schools. The students enrolled in these programs are our future and introducing them to potential employers early is a step in the right direction. I believe this will help promote SMPS-NY in the long run.
3. What are your primary career goals now, and how do you hope SMPS-NY can help you reach them?
I’d like to stick with a firm that allows me to grow and take on new responsibilities. I hate being idle and believe the harder you work the more rewarded you should be. I’m happy to say that I’m at a firm that recognizes my ability. Faithful+Gould has been my home-away-from-home and they’ve been very supportive about my involvement with SMPS-NY. Prior to working here I actually didn’t even know about the organization so I have them to thank for pushing me to join SMPS-NY.

4. What one word would you use to describe yourself?
Silly! I love to play around. Ask my wife, ask my children, ask my siblings, ask my co-workers: They’ll all tell you how goofy I can be at times. I think it keeps me young at heart.
5. What SMPS-NY events/programs are you looking forward to for this year?
I should say all of them! It’s great seeing everyone together and meeting new people. The holiday party should be a lot of fun, especially! Actually, the transportation panel that just passed was fantastic; I made a great connection with Amtrak and now have meetings scheduled between our firms.
6. What is the best communication or marketing advice you ever received?
Faithful+Gould encouraging me to join SMPS-NY and get on a committee has been the best marketing advice I’ve received. I’ve made so many new contacts, some really good friends and was able to bring in new business for my company at the same time. It’s a win-win for everyone!
