Hi everyone! We’ve had such a busy month!

We enjoyed more treats than tricks in October. Our affiliates rocked it with a Westchester Hudson Valley program about opportunity zones in the area, a Long Island program about creating a Business Development culture in AEC firms, and a New Jersey Affiliate “Spooky” Spirits event.

In November we’ve already been running at full speed with our first Professional Development program of the year where we covered the Horizon of Transportation Infrastructure in the NYC metro and the first  Professional Development event of the year where we discussed Curating Employee Engagement, which included a fun, interactive group activity for team building.

I can’t believe it’s already December (RIGHT?!) but we’re already looking forward to the festive spirit of the holidays and kicking things off on December 5th with a Snowy Soirée at the Florense showroom in Midtown. One thing you should know about me is that I’m incredibly passionate about philanthropy, so this year we’re partnering with Toys for Tots and holding a toy drive at the event. As an special bonus for you, everyone who brings an unwrapped gift with receive a raffle ticket on me! (And trust me, based on the prizes we saw last year, this year’s raffle is going to be WORTH it!)

Other events coming up in December include a Coordinator’s Club brown bag lunch where we’ll be discussing Project and Firm Finances for Marketing Professionals on Friday the 6th!

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m finding lots of reasons to be thankful. I am most thankful for all of our SMPS-NY volunteers who make our events come to life with exciting topics and impressive speakers. If you’re new to our chapter or are looking to become an active member, feel free to reach out to me or any of our Board of Directors and we can get you plugged in! Or, if you’re on a committee and want to boost your skills, especially in leadership, talk to your Director about stepping up to be a Committee Chair and join us at an upcoming Board meeting.

As we look ahead to the end of the calendar year, I want to remind you that SMPS-NY is YOUR ORGANIZATION! Give us feedback, help us generate ideas and spend time as a volunteer because we want our members to lead productive and fulfilling careers – this is a great tool for that!  I am so lucky to have such a wonderful Board this year – they support me every day, they keep me on my toes and push new concepts that constantly improve this organization.  Just remember that your voice matters…and I am so very thankful for all of you.
