For August 2018, we’re honoring our Members of the Year from each of our committees. We’re so grateful for their hard work and dedication that made our year one of the best yet! Committees are a great way to test your skills and get involved with the chapter – have you thought about joining an SMPS New York committee?

Again, super huge congrats to all our Members of the Year! Take a look at what our Directors had to say:

Westchester Affiliate: Steve Abbattista

“Steve has been a core member of the Westchester Affiliate for many years. As a Principal of OLA Consulting Engineers, located in NYC and Westchester, his 25+ years of experience has contributed to our annual Economic Development Panel, Spring Programming, and Spirits. Many of our Professional Development programs are hosted/broadcasted from OLA’s Hawthorne office.”

-Anastasia Guadron, Director

Communications & PR Committee: Manjola Gjini

“When Manjola joined the Communications and PR committee, she hit the ground running. She immediately jumped into several projects including designing advertisements, compiling event handouts and collateral and helping out wherever she was needed. She has been an invaluable resource that SMPS is lucky to have on board.”

-Erika Capek, Director
-Olivia Farquharson, Director

Leadership Committee: Monica Hatcher

“Monica’s insights have provided fresh ideas during the planning of our programs.  She takes responsibility for the tasks at hand and she’s a team player. Monica is a valued member of the Leadership Committee and is elected as Volunteer of the Year for her exceptional participation.”

-Rhonda Cardone, Director

Professional Development Committee: Courtney Heslin

“Courtney has shown exceptional leadership skills and is fully involved in improving the programs of the professional development committee with thoughtful ideas and strategy. Her input and participation has been essential.”

-Genesis Vasquez, Director

Programs Committee: Alicia Koledin

“Alicia has so much knowledge about our local AEC industry including what the new and exciting projects are, the key players, and what issues motivate them. And, what a great writer! Alicia always made herself available to write a blog, a post event recap, or blurb. She has been so so helpful in making our Client Panels happen!!”

-Christy Rose, Director

Special Events Committee: Carlyle Lobo

“Carlyle is a vital part of the Special Events committee. He scopes out awesome venues, organizes fun spirits events, and pitches in whenever he can … all with a smile! His ability to remain calm and lighten the mood – even during super stressful times – is much appreciated.”

-Nicole Veenstra, Director

Long Island Affiliate: Jim Powers

“Kudos to Jim for a fantastic program on Downtowns.  You did an amazing job developing this debate panel and coordinating the challenging schedules of all the speakers.  The format and content were super.  Your moderating was a huge help and I thought kept the audience light-hearted and engaged. Thank you so much for all your hard work on this program and for all your help over the years!”

-Corrine Collins, Director

THE Marketing Event Committee: Jessica Schrader

“Jessica is a smart, focused and enthusiastic member of the TME team. She understands the dynamic of teamwork — and is able to produce great design that incorporates the needs of multiple stakeholders. SHE ROCKS.”

-Ingrid Sletten, Director

New Jersey Affiliate: Chris Soria

“Chris Soria has played an integral role in the NJ Affiliate’s 2017-2018 program planning, including managing sponsor outreach and securing over $2,950 in sponsorship for our 2017 Pharma Real Estate panel. He takes assignments and runs with them, always game to support the committee wherever help is needed.”

-Kristy Cerullo, Director

Sponsorship Committee: Bruce Wiener

“Bruce is a veteran of the AEC industry with a contact list (a Rolodex, for those readers who remember what those were) that rivals many company principals. Bruce has and continues to be an important part of the sponsorship committee by not only providing professional introductions to his contacts and a resounding testimonial to the work of the chapter, but by also providing an “outsider’” perspective on sponsor prices, benefit packages, and sales pitches from his perspective as a vendor who also sells to the clients we target.”

-Brian Ferry, Director
