Meet C.C. Pyle – our November 2018 Member of the Month! A Sr. Marketing Coordinator at Sam Schwartz , C.C. has been instrumental in pulling off our biggest event of the year, #TME18! We’ve loved getting to know C.C.!

Where are you from & what brought you to NYC?

I am originally from Westchester and even though I grew up nearby, I never planned to stay so close to home. I went to architecture school in the Midwest, spent a year in Europe after college, and then had a brief stint in Boston, but NYC is the first place where I feel like I’ve made myself a home. 

What led you to being involved on the NY Affiliate Committee?

I was encouraged by my previous supervisor, Monica Hatcher, to get involved with SMPS and more recently with the committee for The Marketing Event (TME). In a past life, I was a professional wedding planner, so the team asked me to use my expertise to plan the yearly event.

What do you hope to gain from your SMPS-NY membership/experience?

Moving forward, I hope to learn from other members about their experiences, in particular how they’re able to innovate in their roles and push the Marketing function within the AEC industry forward with better and smarter use of data. 

How has being a member of SMPS-NY influenced your career so far?

I joined SMPS shortly after my entry into the AEC industry and have found it to be an incredibly useful resource. As someone who loves to learn, I appreciate the many opportunities SMPS offers its members to develop new skills, further existing skills, and find new ways to look at things. SMPS excels at offering opportunities for people at different stages of their career; I appreciate the education I’ve gained from SMPS so far and know there is plenty more to be gained in the future.

We know every day is different, but what do you do in your role at Sam Schwartz?

As a dynamic 120-person consulting firm, Sam Schwartz has a compact marketing team and I have worn many hats during the past two years. Recently my time has been divided between developing internal marketing metrics and analytics, working on our large strategic proposals, and training and managing the newer (and fantastic!) members of our team.

What’s an ideal Saturday for you?

I love to travel – an ideal Saturday is a Saturday spent somewhere new. The next “ideal Saturday” on my itinerary will be in Porto, Portugal!

What do you like to do in your free time?

I really enjoy finding and trying new restaurants, especially if it means taking trips into deep Brooklyn and Queens to try ethnic foods that are hard to find elsewhere. I also love to sleep, but it’s a hobby that I rarely seem to find time for.

Where can we see you in 5 years?

In this day and age, as access to information grows exponentially, the ability to leverage that data becomes all the more important. I believe in the value of using objective information to inform subjective decisions, and it is in this niche within the AEC industry that I see potential to thrive. In 5 years, I see myself more immersed in marketing data analytics, using these skills to drive my company’s strategy.
