[expand title=”Read the rest of the article here…”] 3. What motivated you to join the Professional Development Committee and what is the committee currently working on? When I moved to NYC two years ago, I started attending SMPS events and was making connections but I really wanted to get more out of the organization and become involved. I really enjoyed the PD events I attended in the past and thought it would be an interesting committee to join. I have been involved with the committee for less than a year but the experience has already been extremely rewarding. The Leadership sub-committee event on June 20th I think will be thought-provoking for marketers at all levels and a great event to attend. 4. What is your favorite pastime? I love spending time with my huge extended family and my friends. I am a die-hard DC sports fan and have carried that loyalty to NYC with me. My favorite pastimes include attending or watching games with my family and friends. I even ventured to Yankee Stadium during an Orioles playoff game last year…and realized that all the rumors about New York sports fans are true. I now have some sympathy for Red Sox fans. 5. As a junior-level marketer, what impact has being an SMPS member had on your career thus far? The impact of SMPS on my career thus far has been invaluable. As a junior-level marketer I joined the Mentor Program this past year and was matched with a fantastic mentor who has really helped guide me and give incredibly helpful lessons that I have used in my career. Everyone in SMPS is genuinely helpful and willing to answer any questions I have as a junior marketer. After making so many connections through SMPS it is definitely less intimidating to walk into a room at an event and already know some friendly faces!
