1. What are your areas of expertise?
We leverage light at any angle. No matter the project scope or size, we use light to explore every design challenge. Our ability to integrate electrical lighting and daylighting design services across market sectors in various parts of the world allows us to keep our “finger on the pulse” and help clients innovate.
HLB Lighting Design integrates light into many markets including; Academic, Aviation and Transportation, Civic, Corporate, Cultural, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Historic Renovation, Hospitality, International, Mixed Use, Performing Arts, Residential, Retail, Sports and Recreation, Urban and Master Planning Development.
2. What differentiates you from your competition?
We can’t separate ourselves by claiming we’re different on the basis of fee and expertise. Let’s be honest, design is a relationship business… so that means it’s about “who” we are as a company and “how” we service our clients. From our marketing to design services, we aim to create the best possible HLB experience, period!
We are driven by our curiosity, inspired by the artistry of light, and compelled to produce design with integrity, leaving a legacy of light that respects the built environment. HLB aims at doing more, learning more, creating more and achieving more with our clients.
3. What are you doing differently this year to market your services to your client?
“Best kept secrets” never win the work. HLB believes in creating lasting value to our brand. That means we focus on creative concept, graphic strategies and content for our promotional marketing material as a valued experience. HLB represents one voice, one style, one message, one brand promise, one HLB. In every office, east to west. This strategy helps us focus on the important things, our clients and their design challenges. This past year HLB went through a website redesign to reinforce this mission.
4. What new trends in the industry do you anticipate affecting your business in the near future?
It seems as though the mid-size firm no longer exists in this economy. You either have your small firms or mega design firms. This trend has caused HLB to step our business savvy game and adaptability in the AEC industry. We need to be able to provide the same level of services with our small clients and our mega clients, without pricing ourselves out of the competition or losing our financial shirts on projects. Clients want cheaper, better, faster! Our diversified business acumen and strategic forward thinking has anchored HLB as the largest women owned Architectural Lighting Design firm in North America!
