Anybody else feeling the pressure of being a marketer during the holiday season? It’s 8:30pm. I’m at my desk. And the wonderful lady that cleans our office just stopped by to chat, “You’re here again?” I bet that many of you are also working “with” me.

[expand title=”Click here to read the rest of the President’s Platform…”] I can’t help but write my column with Thanksgiving on my mind. Something that I hear from our board of directors all the time is that we would love to have more volunteers on our committees. What we do as a chapter is amazing, but our directors are big thinkers. With more people on our volunteer team, we can only imagine what we could do! For every talent, we have an opportunity to contribute. Here are some ways that our volunteers are contributing: They’re communicating. Our chapter sends out 7000 emails a week. The talent behind that communication? Carrie Snyder. She does an amazing job of implementing our communication strategy. They’re being social. One of our chapter goals this year is to grow and evolve our social media presence. Adria Dewitt and Olivia Farquharson are doing a great job in helping us realize this goal. They’re giving back. Our chapter raises money for a professional development grant, to send a member to the SMPS national conference. Karen Kelly and Stephanie Mignosi are two of the Special Events committee members helping us fundraise for the grant by making calls to collect raffle donations. (I know there are many others making calls, I just don’t sit close enough to you to hear your outreach!) They’re mentoring. Helping people grow professionally is another chapter goal. This year our mentorship program has 15 mentors/protégés. The program has received national attention, and I regularly get questions about how we organize it. I always credit Pat Newman and Martha Huguet, they do an amazing job with this program. I’m so thankful for the volunteers doing amazing things to make this chapter great. If you are a member that isn’t on a committee, share your talents with us! You’ll be glad you did. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, finished off with a great slice of pie! [/expand]
