Digital Marketing Manager
September’s Member of the Month is a valued member of the SMPS community and a favorite in our New York chapter. Having developed our Spotlight Blog from its humble beginnings to its current state of more than 50 blog authors, Nikki Dever has been a true asset to the SMPS-NY Communications Committee, while serving as the Digital Marketing Manager for Axomic Inc. While formally educated in marketing, her experience in the A/E/C industry makes her an invaluable part of any team. Let’s read below as Nikki has shared some of her thoughts and ideas with us.
1. Where are you from originally and what brought you to New York City?
I was born and raised in Florida, but lived in the Boston area for about 10 years before moving to NYC (no, I do not have a Boston accent). I always wanted to give New York City a try, mostly because I loved the idea of not needing to drive anywhere. I had an opportunity to move down here just over 4 years ago so I decided to go for it!
2. What degree(s) do you hold, and from what schools?
I graduated from Bentley University, a small business school outside of Boston, with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
3. Describe your perfect Saturday.
I live in the Upper West Side, with easy access to both Riverside and Central park. Taking my dog for a long walk or having a picnic in the park is my idea of the perfect Saturday.
4. Can you tell us more about your involvement with the Communications Committee and what new things the committee is working on?
I’ve been a part of the Communications Committee for just about 3 years now, and have really enjoyed seeing the committee evolve into the well-oiled machine it is today. September is a big month for SMPS New York, as it marks the beginning of a new year for the chapter. The Communications Committee is welcoming its new director, Keith Kennedy, and I won’t give too much away, but this year there are going to be some big updates to the chapter branding and communications strategy. Watch this space!
5. What blogs do you read on a regular basis?
I do a lot of Googling whenever I’m gearing up for a new marketing campaign or project (why reinvent the wheel?). I usually find really great marketing best practices/research on Hubspot
