Tiffany Carter

Sales and Marketing Coordinator

Gilbane Building Company

Serving as sales and marketing coordinator at Gilbane Building Company, January’s Member of the Month is quickly becoming a valued asset of our New York chapter. With a graphic design background and a highly motivated attitude, Tiffany Carter’s contributions to the Communications Committee are above and beyond. Let’s read below as Tiffany has shared some thoughts and ideas with us. 1. Where are you from originally and what brought you to New York City? I’m from New Jersey; I grew up in south Jersey close to Philadelphia. I’ve always loved the energy of New York City. It took me a few years but I finally landed a position in New York City. 2. What motivated you to join the Communications Committee and what is the committee working on for 2017? This was the committee that sounded most interesting to me when I attended the new member breakfast. Communications was an area that I didn’t have a lot of experience in and getting involved seemed like a positive challenge for me. Plus I really like to be behind the scenes and this is definitely that type of committee. We just take care of background elements so that we can help promote the good work of our other committees. For 2017, we are really trying to increase member engagement by changing our approach to emails and sprucing up the chapter website. 3. What are some challenges that you face daily in your career and how do you overcome them? If I’m faced with a challenge, sometimes all it takes are deep breaths. If it’s particularly challenging, I’ll take a walk at lunch time or attend a gym session after work. Either way, I find that the issue has usually cleared itself up by the time I return to my desk. 4. What degree(s) do you hold, and from what schools? I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from The College of New Jersey and I swore that I was going to work in advertising while I was in school. Although graphic design is not part of my core responsibilities, my skills do come in handy every once in a while. 5. Because you are our January Member of the Month, can you share with us some New Year’s resolutions? Resolutions…this year I’m going to spend less money on eating out. I like to cook but don’t do enough of it. The local pizza shop knows my order by heart; I’m trying to cut back on that.   Interview by: Elise Martos, Director of Marketing and Communications for Dominick R. Pilla Associates PC
