Let’s see what our members are up to this month! Elizabeth Candela joins Magnusson Architecture and Planning, PC

Elizabeth Candela joined Magnusson Architecture and Planning in July as the Director of Marketing and Business Development, after several years at Marvel Architects. Coinciding perfectly with MAP’s 30th Anniversary, and at an exciting point in the firm’s success and growth, Elizabeth will strengthen and expand MAP’s community planning, architecture and urban design opportunities.
Toni Taylor earns CPSM Designation

Congratulations to SMPS-NY member Toni Taylor, Principal at Create & Share Media, for passing the CPSM exam! Toni brings over 10 years of professional services marketing to small business clients and startups, ideally being the first marketing professional they work with for strategy development and implementation.
Genesis Vasquez promoted to Senior Marketing Coordinator

Genesis Vasquez was recently promoted to Senior Marketing Coordinator for HLB Lighting Design. With only 3 years in the A/E/C industry, she has quickly moved up into a senior role within the firm. Genesis will continue assisting with all marketing efforts and support firm-wide marketing initiatives across 6 offices nationwide. She also currently serves on the Professional Development Committee as Co-Chair for the New York Chapter of SMPS.
Jason Vesuvio presented at TME 2016

Jason Vesuvio, Vice President at Pavarini McGovern and Jennifer C. Newman, CPSM, CEO of Ignite Coaching & Consulting led a presentation at THE Marking Event 2016 in New York City. The presentation titled “Discover Your Why: Knowing Why You Do What You Do Helps You Find Your Place” focused on how organizations and staff are aware of what they do, but few know why they do what they do. Jason and Jennifer covered Simon Sinek’s Golden Circle concept and guided participants through the process of discovering their why.
Lisa Gonzalez relocates to Los Angeles, California

Lisa Gonzalez has spread her wings and relocated to the west coast. She happily continues in her role as Senior Marketing Coordinator with Syska Hennessy Group. Lisa has transferred to the SMPS-LA Chapter and looks forward to new friendships and learning opportunities.
Erika Capek completes Chicago Marathon

Erika Capek, Marketing Manager at BuroHappold Engineering, recently ran her 13th marathon this October in Chicago in 3:28, a personal record. While visiting the Windy City, she also took advantage of Chicago’s architectural boat tour that showcased some of the city’s most iconic buildings and visited some of BuroHappold’s project sites including Navy Pier.
