[expand title=”Click here read the latest Member Buzz…”] Corrine Collins rides in the Grand Fondo New York Marketer by day and cycling enthusiast by weekend. Corrine Collins, Marketing Associate at B. Thayer Associates and the Director of SMPS-NY Long Island Affiliate participated in the Grand Fondo New York (GFNY) on May 17, 2015. The Grand Fondo is a cycling event where you can be a pro for the day. Riding with top cyclists, this is a 100 or 50 mile challenging route from NYC to Bear Mountain and back. Cyclists compete against each other, the clock, and themselves in a personal endurance challenge. For her first attempt, Corrine set her sights on the 50 mile ride and accomplished 30. She met her personal goal of climbing 3 rated hills and over 2500 feet in elevation gain. The largest hill was 2.93 miles long with the climb reaching a maximum elevation of 565 feet and her top speed on the downhill was 37 miles per hour. Gina Bedoya to be honored at the Pioneering Women in Real Estate Awards Gina A. Bedoya, FSMPS, CPSM, Director of Marketing & Business Development at Pei Partnership Architects has been selected as one of the honorees for this year’s Pioneering Women in Real Estate Awards, given by Sokol Media on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. Sokol Media, the only woman-owned publisher of real estate development magazines in the New York City area, has been honoring women in real estate since its founding in 2002. Gina has been a trailblazer in the field of marketing professional services for the built environment. She has contributed articles on marketing and business management to various industry publications and has been a speaker and a participant on various seminar panels. She is an SMPS Fellow, and a past president of the New York Chapter. She is also a past chair of the SMPS National Education Committee, where she contributed to redefining the Body of Knowledge in marketing professional services for the design and construction industry. Gina received several recognitions by the SMPS New York chapter, including the Marketing Mentor Award in May of 2001 and the Lifetime Service Award in May of 2003. SMPS National recognized Gina for grassroots leadership following the 9/11 events, when she led our chapter to change the scheduled seminars to fundraisers to help the families of the victims of 9/11. Congratulations Gina on being a true pioneering woman in our industry! Ian Harris welcomes baby boy Silas Benjamin Harris Ian Harris, Co-Founder and Business Director of Arbuckle Industries, who’s been very active with the chapter since joining last year by hosting a professional development event on how to utilize video in the AEC industry, co-chairing the SMPS-NY Communications website subcommittee, and providing his company’s production services to record some of our recent high profile events, has some even BIGGER news. Ian and his wife, Christine brought their baby boy, Silas Benjamin Harris into the world on April 12th! Here’s to congratulating the new addition to their family! Scott Stelzer performs improv comedy Scott Stelzer, SMPS-NY Director of Sponsorship, gave a hilarious improv performance at The Pit on Sunday, May 17, 2015. Laughing out loud from the audience were his enthusiastic SMPS-NY friends, including: Madame President Julie Pampuch, board members Jonas Foster and Alexis Newman, as well as new member Keith Kennedy.
