Talk about serendipity! As I suspect many of you have heard—given the large number of messages I received once this was announced—Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year is none other than PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet. That’s right, it’s PURPLE! Can you hear the angelic music playing? I mean, how is it that all the stars mysteriously aligned to grace my purple presidency with this colorful blessing from the design gods? Okay, I’m getting a little carried away, but let’s just say that this announcement gave me a renewed sense of purple purpose with regard to leading this chapter and helping our members find their purple power.
I love what Pantone says about this color: “A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.” As we enter 2018, SMPS New York’s goal is to help you develop those very qualities, by putting forth programming that inspires innovation, unique perspectives, and forward-thinking ideas, and that helps you on your path to a fulfilling career.
