Good mentoring relationships can be richly rewarding, not only for the person being mentored, but for the Mentor as well.
Our mentorship program demonstrates our chapter’s commitment to assisting AEC marketers in their personal growth and professional development. Whether you have the skills to teach, or a desire to learn, there is something to be achieved by all who participate in our program. No matter where you are in your career, you can acquire important benefits from participating in a mentor-protégé relationship and gain career insight from a fellow professional. The relationships that develop from the Mentor Program have been valuable to both the mentor and the protégé, with several of our former protégés now serving as mentors and many of our pairs remaining in contact with each other.
Our program is operated on an annual basis, September – August. It is co-chaired by Patricia Neumann, CPSM, Principal of Accu-Cost and Martha Huguet, CPSM, Director of Marketing at Mueser Rutledge. Applications are issued each June and due by July 29. Pat and Martha establish the mentor/protégé pairings. Pairs are introduced at a group Orientation Session, and then mentors and protégés are required to meet in person for a least 1 hour per month. Throughout the year group programs are held, many with guest speakers.
Professionals at all stages of their career should consider participating: beginning marketers who are serious about their career development and would like to learn from an experienced professional should apply to be a protégé, and seasoned marketers who would like to share your experiences and gain something back from your protégé as the same time should consider being a mentor.
