Mr. Carrancho has more than 20 years of design and construction experience in the United States and abroad. He is currently the Associate Director, Engineering & Design Division, of the Smithsonian Institution. In this capacity Mr. Carrancho is responsible for the design management of all the Smithsonian’s capital and large maintenance projects, SI Facility Design Standards, and is the selecting official for all Architect and Engineer Contracts for the institution. From 1996-2010 Mr. Carrancho served in many professional capacities for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Europe Africa and Southwest Asia located In Naples, Italy. While serving there he was responsible for four business lines providing: Design and Construction services, Planning & Real Estate Acquisition, Environmental Services and Facilities Maintenance and Operations. He also served as Chief Engineer, where he was the Authority Having Jurisdiction for United States and Host Nation code compliance issues in the countries of Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece. He presided over $1 Billion worth of design and construction projects during his incumbency. Mr. Carrancho is a registered professional civil engineer in the state of California and is a LEED Green Associate.

Kate Bicknell joined the Commercial & Residential Development division of Forest City in 2005. With experience in both the public and private sectors, Ms. Bicknell has played a key role in the Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn, jointly leading the development and negotiation of the primary Atlantic Yards documents with the City, State and MTA. Prior to joining Forest City, Ms. Bicknell worked as a Legislative Aide to the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan and was the Federal Policy Director for Smart Growth America.

Kate Bicknell received an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, and graduated with honors from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning with a B.S. in Urban & Regional Studies.

Scott has been advising architects, engineers, and contractors on how to achieve their business goals through effective use of digital technology since 2000. As a licensed civil engineer and former CAD manager, he understands design and how the proper tools can help the process. For the past several years, he has been an advocate of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and helps his clients to adopt and optimize the BIM process. Recently relocated to New York from Chicago, he joined the New York City office of IMAGINiT Technologies in April of 2012. An active member of the AEC community, Scott is currently SMPS NYC membership committee co-chair and was previously an SMPS Chicago board member. Outside of work, Scott fuels his creative side through improv and acting. He's a graduate of Chicago's Second City Improv Program and as an extra in several prime time shows.

Margaux Jaffa is an accomplished professional with more than ten years' experience in marketing, branding, communications, public relations, and business development. As the Business Development Director for VOA’s New York office Margaux is responsible for growing market sectors and securing new business in the workplace, retail, hospitality, multi-family residential, and healthcare sectors. Margaux is an active member of CoreNet and SMPS, and currently serves as the Co-Chair of the SMPS-NY Programs committee. Aside from her architecture and real estate interests Margaux is also an accomplished runner and triathlete.

As the head of Richard Staub Marketing Services, Richard Staub provides strategic marketing assistance to architecture and engineering firms taking the next step in building their business. His full range of services addresses all aspects of creating and implementing a dynamic marketing program. He has worked for over 25 years in the profession, previously serving as Director of Marketing for such internationally known design firms as Gwathmey Siegel & Associates, Davis Brody Bond Aedas and Emery Roth & Sons.

He has been a member of the AIANY Marketing and PR Committee for the last ten years, and as contributing editor to Oculus, the quarterly journal of the AIANY Chapter, he writes regularly for the magazine. A long-time member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services New York Chapter, Mr. Staub has served on its Board of Directors; as Director of the Professional Development Committee and as a member of the Professional Advisory Roundtable. He is the recipient of SMPS NY’s Marketing Service and Marketing Mentor Awards.
