Nothing is more important to a marketer than the ability to communicate.
As a member of the SMPS-NY Communications Committee, members are charged with spreading the word about all of the chapter’s events and initiatives. From maintaining the chapter website to promoting events, designing ads, postcards, emails and handouts, there’s always something new for our committee members to learn.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have experience in Adobe Suite or the backend of WordPress. Maybe you just want to hone your digital marketing skills and figure out how to use MailChimp to send email campaigns. Or it could be that you’re tired of using the same templates at your job and you need some free rein to be creative designing an advertisement. If any of those scenarios sound familiar, this is the committee for you!
The Communications Committee is a team of passionate, enthusiastic and creative minds who work together to best promote the chapter, and we have fun doing it! If you’d like to learn new skills or hone your existing skills, we are always on the lookout for members who don’t mind jumping right in. Members of this committee have a pulse on all of the New York chapter’s initiatives, and while we work mostly behind the scenes, our hard work is seen by the entire organization (and much of the AEC industry) through our engaging external content and messaging.
If you’re interested in learning more or finding out how you can volunteer (even just five minutes a week!), I’m always up for a coffee. If email is easier, don’t hesitate to reach out at Erika.Capek@burohappold.com
Hope to see you at our next monthly meeting soon!
