SMPS-NY Members complete the Brooklyn Half-Marathon
Congratulations to Julie Pampuch, Managing Director at WB Engineers + Consultants; Erika Capek, Marketing Manager at BuroHappold Engineering and SMPS-NY Director of Communications; Courtney Grill, Marketing Manager at Faithful+Gould; and Alexa B. Antopol, Chief Intelligence Officer at Fisher Dachs Associates, for completing the 13.1-mile course.

Liz Archer selected as one of Women Builders Council’s 2017 Outstanding Women
Liz Archer, Marketing Pursuit Manager for Dewberry, was recently selected as one of the Women Builders Council’s (WBC) 2017 Outstanding Women. Per the WBC, her “commitment to increasing diversity and the role of women in the construction and professional services industries is inspiring”. Liz was bestowed this prestigious award at the WBC’s 13th Annual Champion Awards Dinner on Tuesday, May 16, 2017. WBC wrote to Liz in a letter informing her of the award: “We are delighted and privileged to recognize your outstanding accomplishments in the building industry. You are an important role model for women in our industry and throughout all of New York’s business communities. Women Build It! And it is our pleasure to recognize your achievements.” Liz is very grateful for the award and says: “It is an honor to be recognized with so many wonderful women in the design and construction industry. Thank you Eileen R. Della Volle for nominating me! Thank you to my supervisor, Ali Vaezi, and my colleague, Wayne Repich, for their support, for which I am so happy! And most of all, thank you WBC!”

Paige Irvine to represent the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention as Field Ambassador
As a Field Ambassador for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), Paige Irvine, member of SMPS-NY’s Communications Committee, met with elected officials to discuss legislation during New York State Advocacy Day in Albany on May 2nd. In June, Paige will also attend the Advocacy Forum for four days in Washington DC where volunteers will meet with Senators and Congressional Representatives. Having volunteered for AFSP since 2006 as a walk organizer and annual fundraiser, Paige became more deeply involved in the legislative mission of the foundation by joining the Public Policy committee earlier this year.

Elise Martos earns Master of Arts Degree
Elise Martos, Director of Marketing and Communications for Dominick R. Pilla Associates, PC, and member of SMPS-NY’s Public Relations Committee, has recently earned a Master of Arts degree from Marist College in Integrated Marketing Communications. The program focuses on modern day digital interactive marketing and strategic communication tactics.

Brien McDaniel selected as a finalist for the 2017 SMPS Marketing Communications Awards
Brien McDaniel, Director of Communications and Senior Associate at FXFOWLE, was selected as a finalist for 2017 SMPS Marketing Communications Awards (MCA) competition for his Public Relations plan to launch FXFOWLE’s monograph “Reveal Filter Evolve Effect.” The plan previously won two awards at the SMPS-NY Chapter awards program in 2015 for Best Promotional Campaign and People’s Choice. Brien will be attending Build Business in Indianapolis representing FXFOWLE and SMPS-NY.

Amy Stroud selected for the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation for Women Emerging Leaders Program
This month, the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (BWAF) launched a new program for Emerging Leaders in the AEC industry. Focused around the subjects of Risk, Rain-Making, and Resilience, the women selected to participate in this program were each nominated by their respective firms for their aligned interests in culture change in the built environment professions. Amy Stroud, Marketing Manager at Dattner Architects, was amongst the selected to join this group of groundbreaking women in their inaugural year.

Carrie Villani, Director of Marketing at Leslie E. Robertson Associates, and Chair of SMPS-NY’s Coordinators Club; Katherine DeMercurio, Associate of Business Development at M Moser Associates; and Pat Hildebrandt, Director at JFK&M Consulting Group, are featured in the May 16 – June 5 issue of New York Real Estate Journal in the 2017 Women in Professional Services section.
