SMPS-NY members to speak at Build Business 2016
SMPS New York Chapter members Gilbert Brindley of H2M architects + engineers and Kirsten Sibilia of Dattner Architects will speak as part of the Seller-Doer Symposium at Build Business in Philadelphia on August 10. The Chair and Symposium Facilitator is SMPS-NY member Andrew Weinberg of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger. The symposium is created specifically for technical professionals who are also responsible for bringing in work through business development activities. The content is designed with the middle to senior level management staff in mind, those who are responsible for developing, managing, and advocating for these activities among their staff and leadership. Specifically, the program will cover how to bring a seller-doer culture to your firm, and how to put a process in place to motivate, measure, and acknowledge achievement.

Kristin Valente joins Charles Rose Architects
Kristin Valente, SMPS-NY member since 2009, recently moved to Boston and is now Director of Marketing and Business Development at Charles Rose Architects in Somerville.

Leslie Jenkins joins Jacobs
Leslie Jenkins, LEED Green Associate, recently joined Jacobs in the firm’s Buildings & Infrastructure line of business, where she leads the New York office’s Inside Sales Group. In this role, Leslie is responsible for directing and supporting client and opportunity strategy as well as proposal and presentation development. Jacobs is one of the world’s largest and most diverse providers of full-spectrum technical, professional and construction services for industrial, commercial and government organizations globally. The company employs 60,000 people and operates in more than 30 countries around the world.

Carrie Villani awarded CREW Network National Convention scholarship
Carrie Villani, Director of Marketing at Leslie E. Robertson Associates (LERA) and Chair of the SMPS-NY Coordinators Club, member of the Professional Development Committee, and Co-Chair of the Communications Committee, has been awarded a scholarship to attend the CREW Network National Convention from the Commercial Real Estate Women New York Chapter (CREW New York). The convention will be held October 19-22 in New York City and attracts over 2,000 professional women and men in the real estate industry. Carrie was selected due to her dedication to leadership, member interaction and business referrals. The annual CREW Network Convention and Marketplace provides attendees with education, professional development, and inspiration from some of the most thought-provoking speakers today—all structured within a platform designed to maximize opportunities to build your business network. Carrie is a current Board Member of CREW New York, serving as Chair of Communications and PR.

Carolyn A. Schultz starts her own consulting business
After ten years as the first marketer for three A/E/C firms, Carolyn Schultz has formed her own consultancy, Carolyn A. Schultz Marketing & Communications. As an independent consultant, Carolyn plans to help more firms and organizations bring people together through effective communications, including proposals, resumes, and articles.

Delphine Daniels joins Rogers Partners
Delphine Daniels, Assoc. AIA, SMPS-NY member and co-chair of the AIANY Marketing and Communications Committee, is now Marketing Director at Rogers Partners. The practice was recently selected to design a new 10-acre park that will cap a stretch of highway in Atlanta, Georgia and is involved with a number of transformative projects, including a new 13-acre pier in St. Petersburg, Florida and the renewal of Constitution Gardens on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
