If you have not already had the opportunity to get to know August’s Member of the Month, take the time! Jeff Taub resides as the northeast regional marketing manager at VHB, where he is able to demonstrate his career-long experience in the A/E/C industry on a daily basis with a team of marketing professionals. Our New York chapter is equally fortunate to have his wealth of knowledge and experience through his time spent on the New Jersey Affiliate Committee. He is a devoted family man, avid sports fan, and polished professional. Let’s read below as Jeff has shared some of his thoughts and ideas with us.

Where are you from originally and what brought you to New York City?
I grew up on Long Island, attended Yeshiva University in Manhattan, and lived in the city for a number of years after graduating. My wife and I moved to East Brunswick, NJ, soon after our first daughter was born. I have worked in the New York City market my entire career.
Have you always worked in the A/E/C industry?
I’m an industry lifer—have always and will always! I started my career as a proposal coordinator at STV in 2000 and never looked back. I’m the son, grandson, and son-in-law of engineers, so perhaps it’s my destiny.
Can you describe for us a typical day as the regional marketing manager at VHB?
My days often begin with a quick check of Streetsblog, Curbed, New York YIMBY, and other blogs before veering off in a dozen directions. I can often be found on proposal/lead strategy calls, checking in with my marketing/graphics team on workload, facilitating go/no-go decisions, and contributing to any number of marketing, visibility, and business development initiatives. Writing is my true love; ask me to write something and all other responsibilities fall by the wayside.
What SMPS events throughout the year would you advise newer members not to miss?
The UBER Conference has quickly become a don’t-miss-it event for me—I enjoy the local vibe of a regional conference focused on the East Coast. Client Panels are informative when they focus on emerging trends specific to the New York City market. Our New Jersey Leadership Affiliate is soaring and we have great programming in store for the coming year.
What are some of your favorite movies and televisions shows?
When I’m not watching Yankees, Jets, and Islanders games I love just about everything on Comedy Central (South Park, Key & Peele, Broad City) and dramas like The Leftovers and Mad Men. My all-time favorite show is The Wire, which I’m binge-watching for the second time now with my wife. I have three young kids and still can’t get enough of Phineas & Ferb—no kid’s show comes close.
